Loafers Rest
452 Sergeantsville Road, Flemington NJ, 08822
Loafers Rest is a little eighteen acre farm lost in time and hidden in the Hunterdon County countryside. Originally constructed circa 1770, the stone residence grew in stages and most recently was architecturally linked with a stone wagon shed by a dramatic wall of windows. The home has three bedrooms and features random width pumpkin pine floors, deep-set windows, a fireplace, two wood burning stoves and an attached greenhouse room. The carriage house has skylights upstairs and could be delightful studio/office space. The heavy-timbered post and beam/English-style main barn of about 1,400 square feet contains all of the original hand hewn, exposed beams. The three acre pasture has a
run-in shed and all-season water connections. The remainder of the property is wooded with a variety of large specimen trees and bounded by fieldstone walls. Prolific springs gush from the hillside to form the headwaters of the Third Neshanic River. Come and discover the character and charm of this historic property.
